The New York state Fairgrounds is a 375 acre site that hosts a variety of fun, educational and exciting events during each year. In addition to the famous Great New York State Fair, the Fairgrounds host approximately 500 non-fair events, including major sporting events, equestrian competitions, consumer shows and community events.
As a biomedical research enterprise, Upstate Medical University focuses on the most prevalent human diseases, including cancer, diabetes, heart disease, nervous system disorders, vision, and infectious diseases. The Upstate University Health System serves 1.8 million people, often the most seriously ill and injured, and includes Upstate University Hospital; Upstate University Hospital at Community Campus; Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital, and numerous satellite sites.
University Hospital has long held the distinction of caring for the most seriously ill and injured in the state. It is a Level-I trauma center and features the region’s only children’s hospital. University Hospital is also a NYS Designated Center for Stroke, AIDS, Trauma, Burn, SAFE services, and Poison Control, and offers 77 unique specialty clinics.
